“Hajar Bochor Dhore” is a famous novel.This novel is written by a famous novelist & film maker Jahir Raihan who was born in Feni district.
“Symphony of Agony” is the English form of “Hajar Bochor Dhore”.

This novel represents the image of rural life & rustic culture in our country based on 19th century. It also focuses on the darkness of prejudice, child marriage, polygamy, violence against women in a society of that you time.

In the whole part of this novel, superstition was a burning issue on that time.In this novel, I see that ‘Ola Bibi’s mythology regarding with cholera disease. And the author narrated how women were tortured by men in that century.

“Montu Mia” is a protagonist of this novel. I assume that ” Montu Mia” can reflect the non-modern culture which is more than best.

The author of this novel tautologizes about women rights. Whatever happens in our society, women have no rights.
